As a Senior Vice President with Booz Allen Hamilton, Bill Bastedo is a leader in the firm’s Justice and Homeland Security business leading engagements with the Department of Homeland Security and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Previously, he led the firm’s engagements with Air Force space programs, and projects supporting the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration. Mr. Bastedo has over 28 years of expertise in systems engineering and program management of complex programs for federal government clients. His career has been split between leadership roles in the civil service and roles in the industrial community. While at NASA, he held leadership positions in the Space Shuttle, Space Station, and expendable launch vehicle and Payload Processing programs. With the Space Station Program, Mr. Bastedo led the team that developed the plan to assemble the one-million pound spacecraft over a series of more than 20 Space Shuttle missions and served as Launch Package Manager for the development, test, and launch preparations of the first element of the Space Station Program. For his contributions to the latter effort, Mr. Bastedo was awarded with the prestigious NASA Leadership Medal. At Booz Allen, he has been instrumental in helping Booz Allen develop the firm’s engineering capabilities and currently co-chair’s the firm’s Engineering Functional community. Mr. Bastedo is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and an invited member of various advisory panels. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
