MaryAnn Miller is chief human resources officer and corporate communications for Avnet, Inc. A senior vice president reporting to Avnet CEO Rick Hamada, she is a member of the Avnet Executive Board and a corporate officer. In her role, Ms. Miller is responsible for leading global human resources and organizational development, as well as corporate communications and its strategic alignment to Avnet’s overall enterprise initiatives. Ms. Miller previously served as senior vice president, global human resources, after two years with Avnet as vice president of talent and organizational effectiveness, with responsibility for global talent management, performance management and employee development. Ms. Miller continues to make significant contributions to Avnet’s brand, culture and employee programs, most notably in developing a comprehensive, integrated organizational development initiative that enables Avnet to attract, develop, engage and reward employees. She was awarded the Avnet Chairman’s Award in 2009 for leading her team to remarkable strides in people practices across Avnet. Prior to joining Avnet in 2006, Ms. Miller served as vice president, human resources— Electronic Systems at Goodrich Corporation, a $6.4 billion global supplier of systems and services to aircraft and engine manufacturers, airlines and defense forces around the world. In this role, she had oversight for more than 7,000 employees worldwide. She also served as vice president of corporate services and was a corporate officer at OrthoLogic, a publicly traded biotechnology company. She started her career with Allstate Insurance Company. Ms. Miller’s career includes more than 25 years of experience in human resources and operations management in insurance, banking and wireless communications, aerospace, and technology distribution and services. She earned her Executive master’s degree from the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University in 2010, and was inducted into the W.P Carey School Hall of Fame in 2013.
