Allan B. Moore practices in the areas of international arbitration, complex commercial litigation, and insurance coverage and is co-chair of the firm’s Arbitration Practice Group. He has represented a broad array of multinational corporations and regularly appears before international and domestic arbitral tribunals, as well as federal and state courts throughout the United States. Mr. Moore has helped clients recover over $2 billion in damages awards, fee awards, and settlement payments in various commercial and insurance coverage disputes. He has served as lead counsel in ICC, ICSID, AAA, and ad hoc arbitrations involving both common law and civil law systems, and he has experience with FIDIC construction disputes. Mr. Moore coordinates on arbitration and litigation matters with the firm's London office, where he was resident from 1999 until 2002, and from which he managed, among other matters, intellectual property enforcement litigation for leading software companies in more than 30 countries across Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Mr. Moore also will sit occasionally as an arbitrator and is currently sitting on an ICC tribunal involving a $200 million dispute relating to a concession agreement in the Red Sea. Mr. Moore has represented the prevailing parties in several international arbitrations that have proceeded to final awards on the merits after extensive hearings. Clients in major matters include BP, Blackstone Group, Eli Lilly, Government of Jordan, Joy Global, Kamylon Capital, Kockums, Merck, Microsoft, Norfolk Southern, UBS, and various privately held entities and individuals. REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS Lead counsel for BP in insurance coverage disputes arising from the Deepwater Horizon incident and resulting oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Representation of a Fortune 100 company in related London arbitrations involving over 40 witnesses and six weeks of testimony, resulting in the third largest commercial arbitration award of the last five years (AmLaw Focus Europe’s “Arbitration Scorecard 2009”) and the recovery of approximately $590 million in insurance coverage for mass tort liabilities and approximately $45 million in related fees and costs. Representation of a major US railroad in a London arbitration that settled on highly favorable terms relating to losses arising from a severe train derailment and chemical release. Representation of the Jordanian Government in an ICSID arbitration brought by a Turkish contractor in connection with the collapse of a dike constructed under a FIDIC contract in the Dead Sea. Representation of an international consumer goods conglomerate in connection with an ICC arbitration, US confirmation order and conflicting Brazilian court proceedings. Representation of a New York hedge fund in an AAA arbitration against an investment research and advisory firm. Representation of the co-owner of an American hybrid automobile battery manufacturer in an AAA arbitration sited in Houston brought by its joint venture partner and 50% co-owner. Representation of an American manufacturing firm and licensee in successfully obtaining, through an ICC arbitration in London, a worldwide injunction and award of costs and fees against its South African licensor, which had become an infringing competitor. Representation of an Israeli inventor in successfully establishing breaches of contract by a German engineering firm, and obtaining an award of costs and fees, in an ICC arbitration in London. Representation of corporate policyholders, from diverse industries, in state and federal coverage actions in California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.
