Vance Kondon, who died in 1996, and Elisabeth Giesberger, who died in 2011, left an art collection valued at more than $45-million to both museums. The collection includes works by Otto Dix, Gustav Klimt, Roy Lichtenstein, Brice Marden, Richard Serra, and others. Dr. Kondon served several terms on the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from 1971 to 1981. The couple loaned artworks and were closely involved with both institutions.
