Nikki Fortunato Bas, Chair of the Partnership's Board, is the executive director of the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy (EBASE) and has advocated for social justice for more than 15 years. Over the course of eight years as executive director of Sweatshop Watch, she developed the organization into a leading advocate for the rights of garment workers in California and globally. She led numerous campaigns that resulted in a landmark sweatshop reform law in California and millions of dollars in back wages paid to garment workers from major corporations. She supported the creation and served on the advisory board of the multi-ethnic Garment Worker Center in Los Angeles. She was a board member of the Chinese Progressive Association in San Francisco, and helped found its Chinese Workers Organizing Center. She chaired the advisory board of the Worker Rights Consortium and played a key role in founding this independent labor rights monitoring organization.
