Kelly Ryan is a member of the Firm's Health Law and Government Relations departments. Her practice focuses on legal and legislative representation regarding insurance and health matters, with a special focus on health reform implementation. She also conducts bill and budget analysis on various health care and health insurance topics, focusing on health policy, insurance and long-term care. Prior to joining Hinman Straub, Ms. Ryan served as Counsel to New York State Senator Marty Golden, then Chair of the Senate Aging committee. Ms. Ryan also served as an adjunct lecturer (Introduction to Irish Politics) at The College of St. Rose. While at Ohio State, she assisted in preparation of petitioner's brief for Cutter v. Wilkinson before the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Ryan is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association. She is a trustee of KIPP: Tech Valley Charter School, a member of the Global Health Committee at the School of Public Health at the University at Albany, and a member of the State Court Watch Advisory Board. Ms. Ryan also contributes to the New York State Bar Association's Health Law Section blog "Supraspinatus" regarding legislative activity of interest to health lawyers, and is active in the section's Public Health Committee.
