The foundation reaches over 3,000,000 (3 MN) students across the globe through this curriculum. Education Prize[edit] The Education Prize is an annual competition organised by tGELF for school teachers in India and abroad. The winners are given a letter of recommendation and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh (USD 1500 approx.) each.[9] Initiatives[edit] Global Citizen India[edit] In 2016, tGELF partnered Global Citizen to host first edition of the Global Citizen India Festival.[10][11][12] The festival was hosted on November 19 in Mumbai, India, where it was headlined by Coldplay and Jay Z. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made a short address to the crowd via video conference.[13] Other performers included Demi Lovato, A. R. Rahman, The Vamps, Arijit Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and Amitabh Bachchan. There were also appearances by Indian film actors Shah Rukh Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Arjun Kapoor, and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The promotional campaign mobilized over 500,000 youths who took more than 2 million “actions” through digital platforms calling on government, faith leaders, business icons and celebrities to be more accountable on education, gender equality, water and sanitation. The star-studded event headlined by Coldplay drew 85,000 people and raised more than USD 5 BN while clocking a TV Viewership of 2 million people across India.[6][14] Awards & Recognitions[edit] tGELF was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award at the Wharton-QS Stars Awards 2014 by University of Pennsylvania.[15][16] The award is also known as 'Oscars for Education'[17] The Global Education & Leadership Foundation (tGELF) is a non-profit organization that seeks to identify and foster leadership skills in individuals who are rooted in the values of ethics and altruism, and have a bias for action. tGELF was officially inaugurated in 2008 by the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh and within a span of 10 years. The programme started with six schools and has become a premier curricula programme across India and globally, touching over 3 million young lives today in 14 countries.
