DALLAS, TX – Oct. 1, 2018 – Texas 2036, a non-partisan 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining the success of Texas, has announced the launch of its new website and data platform. Texas 2036 uses data, research, and leading experts to enable Texans to make informed decisions about the core challenges impacting the state’s future. The group is currently working on a strategic policy plan, scheduled for draft release at the end of 2019, focused on change in six key policy areas: education & workforce, health & human services, infrastructure, natural resources, justice & safety, and government performance. Core to the work of Texas 2036 is the use of data to inform planning and drive decision making. The Texas 2036 Data Platform, accessible at dataplatform.texas2036.org, offers a free, online repository of Texas-related data sources. The platform allows users to visualize, manipulate, and download datasets from trusted sources that can educate Texans, drive informed policy development, and measure state success. Texas 2036 will use specific metrics, linked to policy recommendations, to track outcomes over time, and hold policy makers accountable for future-oriented action that gets results. “Our goal is to ensure Texas continues to be the best place to live and do business through, and beyond, our bicentennial in 2036,” said Tom Luce, founder of Texas 2036. “Our data platform is a critical tool for anyone who wants to really understand Texas and all of its success and challenges. And texas2036.org highlights for Texans the opportunity we have to get ahead of the curve and ensure Texas is the place we all want it to be for our children and grandchildren.” About Texas 2036 A non-partisan, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Texas 2036 is supported by foundations and individuals who recognize the importance of using data to drive long-range policy development. Informed by decades of public policy experience at the local, state, and national level, Tom Luce founded Texas 2036 amid growing concern that without careful consideration, planning, and decision-making regarding the future, the tremendous opportunities Texas offers may not exist for future generations.
