History The Scott Foundation is a private family foundation based in California’s Bay Area that seeks to empower children in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Philanthropists Shannon Hunt-Scott and Kevin Scott launched The Scott Foundation in 2014 to reach more children and influence broader change around the issues of hunger, early childhood education, and girls and women in technology. Their passions for these causes were sparked by diverse experiences around the globe that underscored the importance of safety net services, quality education, and the technological skills needed to thrive in today’s world. President Shannon Hunt-Scott takes a hands-on, highly engaged approach to grantmaking. Organizations collaborating with The Scott Foundation receive much more than funding – they receive additional connections and support from the President, who truly believes in the causes that are funded. To date, the foundation has gifted over $3 million dollars to local nonprofit organizations.
