The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, originated in 1973, and is the only statewide organization dedicated to the unique professional and advocacy concerns of school superintendents and assistant superintendents. The Association members include 277 superintendents and 148 Assistant Superintendents. The Association holds two general membership meetings each year, eight monthly regional roundtables, a three-day July Executive Institute, and a two-day October Technology Leadership Conference. There are also a variety of professional development Leadership Institutes offered throughout the school year. In January 2012, the Executive Committee reaffirmed a strategic plan that includes their mission, vision, values and beliefs, and goals.In December 2014, the M.A.S.S. Executive Committee developed a new Mission Statement to reflect the current work of the Association. Our Mission is: To provide all Massachusetts children with a world class education by; Seeking strategies to continuously improve public education; Speaking with a cohesive, powerful voice on behalf of laws, policies and funding: Supporting superintendents and assistant superintendents with information, including professional development and a network of peers.
