With the dramatic implosion of the former Hotel Annex, construction of the new convention center in downtown Albany, New York’s Capital city is right around the corner. The Albany Capital Center is taking its place along the Albany Skyline, and with it exciting new opportunities for event and meeting planners alike. Located in the heart of downtown Albany, the Albany Capital Center will be within walking distance of restaurants, hotels, shops, art galleries, night clubs, museums and more! The Albany Capital Center will provide all of the top notch amenities needed for your successful meeting or event! Operated by SMG, the Albany Capital Center will be a beautiful glass structure that offers space from 1,000 to 50,000 square feet, and that can accommodate 10 to 5,000 people. Housing 22,500 square feet of ballroom/exhibit space, 6 meeting rooms with 9,200 square feet of space, and 13,500 square feet of pre-function space, the Albany Capital Center will provide all of the top notch amenities needed for your successful meeting or event. The Albany Capital Center will also be connected via an enclosed walkway to a newly renovated hotel, the Renaissance Albany. This historic property sits across the street from the New York State Capitol. The Renaissance Albany, which opened in October 2015, offers intimate meeting space for private events, a full-service restaurant, lounge, and coffee shop, and will make up 200 of the nearly 1,000 rooms in downtown Albany. When complete in March 2017, the Albany Capital Center will also have 130 parking spaces available within three underground levels of the Albany Capital Center. in addition, the parking garage will be connected to the Times Union Center garage (950 spaces).
