"Congressional Big 8" - Defense News 2013
Number 12 on Defense News' 100 Most Influential People in Defense 2013 Washington’s dysfunction has derailed the annual defense legislative process in both chambers. But HASC Chairman Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., and his SASC counterpart Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., along with ranking members Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., and Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., still have a say over the Pentagon’s future spending plans and policies. The remaining four will have a big say over helping the Pentagon fit under mandated spending caps: Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee Chairman Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Ranking Member Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss.; and House Appropriations defense subcommittee Chairman Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-N.J., and Ranking Member Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Ind.
