Notes let analysts keep public or private memos that make their own research easier and more complete. You can mention other analysts and link to profiles, relationships, lists and groups in your note.

Research Groups
Research groups allow LittleSis analysts to collaborate on research projects. You can join any group and post notes to the group page and other group members.

Writing a Note
  1. Click your username tab to go to your dashboard.
  2. Click Write a note.
  3. Mention other analyst(s) using @username and your note will be posted on their dashboard(s).
  4. Link to a LittleSis entity and the note will be posted on its page:
  5. Check Private to make the note only viewable by yourself and any analysts you mention.
  6. Click Post to finish.

Linking to a Profile in a Note
  1. In the Find an entity box, type in the person or organization you want to create a link to.
  2. Click the correct name in the drop-down.
  3. Click Copy to add it in mention format to your note.
  4. The “link name" in brackets indicates how the mention will be displayed in your note. To change, type a different name between the brackets.
  5. Check Private to make the note only viewable by yourself and anyone you mention.
  6. Click Post to finish.

Linking to a Relationship or List in a Note
  1. Search for the person, organization or list you want to write a note about.
    • For lists, click its name in the search results.
    • For relationships, click the person or org's name with the relationship you want to link to and click the relationship title on their profile page.
  2. Find the Notes section of the list/relationship page to see all the notes mentioning this entity.
  3. Click Write a note in the Notes section to link to this list/relationship in a new note.
  4. Click Note all in the Notes Section to link to this list/relationship and any analysts who’ve edited this entity in a new note.
  5. Check Private to make the note only viewable by yourself and anyone you mention.
  6. Click Post to finish.

Managing My Notes
  1. Click your username tab to go to your dashboard.
  2. Your dashboard displays all the notes you’ve written and all the notes others have written mentioning you.
  3. To show only notes you’ve written, click Hide replies.
  4. Notes can’t be edited once they’ve been posted. To delete a note you’ve written, click the trash can on the right side of the note.
  5. Notes marked with a padlock are private to you and any other analysts mentioned.

Joining/Leaving a Research Group
When you join a group, it will appear on your dashboard and any notes linking to the group will be posted on your dashboard.
  1. Search for the group you want to join.
  2. Click its name in the search results.
  3. Click Join group in the header of the group page.
  4. If you want to leave the group, click Leave group.

Writing a Research Group Note
You can post a note to a group page by simply mentioning the group in your note. The group members will see your note posted on their dashboards.
  1. Click the Groups tab and click the group you want to mention in your note.
  2. Find the Group Notes section of the group page.
  3. Click Write a note in the Notes section to mention this group in a new note.
  4. You can also mention specific analysts using @username.
  5. Check Private to make the note only viewable by yourself and any group/analysts you mention.
  6. Click Post to finish.

Can I create a new research group?
At this time only LittleSis staff can add new research groups. If you want a new group to help you organize a project on LittleSis, please contact us.
