Michael J Ward

Mr. Ward spent forty years serving in various executive leadership, financial, and coal marketing positions with one of the nation’s premier transportation and logistics companies, CSX Corporation, and its predecessor company, Chessie System, Inc., most recently as Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2003 until 2017. Mr. Ward currently serves on the boards of directors of Ashland Global Holdings, Inc. and PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., as well as a number of boards of various local, regional, and national not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Ward earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Maryland. Michael J. Ward was elected as Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of CSX in January 2003, and as President in July 2002. His career with a CSX predecessor railroad began in 1977. He has served CSX Transportation, Inc., the Company's rail subsidiary, as President since November 2000 and as President and Chief Executive Officer of CSX since October 2002. He is also a director of Ashland, Inc. Mr. Ward has been a director of CSX since April 2002.
