Jordon Perlmutter

Jordon Perlmutter was a pioneer in Colorado real estate development, introducing the concept of planned communities to Denver with the construction of Northglenn and the Montbello and Southglenn neighborhoods. Perlmutter oversaw the development of thousands of single- and multi-family homes and millions of square feet of retail and office space from Thornton to Castle Rock, including Northglenn Mall and Southwest Plaza. Perlmutter, who founded Perl-Mack Enterprises and later Jordon Perlmutter & Co., died in December 2015 at the age of 84. A Denver native, Perlmutter was born in 1931, growing up in a mostly Jewish community on the west side of Denver. His father was a general contractor. Perlmutter received an athletic scholarship to the University of Denver, but his schooling was interrupted when he joined the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. After his service, he returned to Denver and went into business with his cousin Sam Primack. Over the next 30 years, Perl-Mack Enterprises would build more than 22,000 single and multi-family homes throughout the metro area. In 1983, Perlmutter and his oldest son, Jay, created Jordon Perlmutter & Co. Perlmutter is survived by his wife, Essie; two sons, Jay and Jonathan Perlmutter; two daughters, Lisa Cook and Vicki Dansky; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
