Alfred G Gilman

Alfred G. Gilman, M.D., Ph.D. Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas; Dean, Southwestern Medical School; and Regental Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the Cecil and Ida Green Center for Molecular, Computational, and Systems Biology, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Gilman has served as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and dean of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School since 2005 and professor of pharmacology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center since 1981. He holds the Raymond and Ellen Willie Distinguished Chair of Molecular Neuropharmacology, the Nadine and Tom Craddick Distinguished Chair in Medical Science, and the Atticus James Gill, M.D., Chair in Medical Science at the university and was named a regental professor in 1995. Dr. Gilman was on the faculty of the University of Virginia School of Medicine from 1971 to 1981 and was named a professor of pharmacology there in 1977. He is a director of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Gilman was a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1994.
