Ted Gavin is a Managing Director and Founding Partner of Gavin/Solmonese LLC, a national corporate restructuring and public affairs advisory firm. Ted has worked with companies in transition for several years, serving in advisory and management roles for troubled companies in diverse manufacturing, service, governmental and healthcare fields. Prior to joining Gavin/Solmonese’s predecessor firm NHB Advisors, Inc., Ted was CIO of an $80 Million manufacturing company with nine locations in the United States and Canada, where he led the turnaround of a struggling and misaligned IT function. When the business was purchased, Ted joined the new parent company’s efforts in developing a unified Information technology strategy, a process that he later led across his division. Prior to entering the field of corporate renewal, Ted held positions with General Instrument Corporation, managing global electronic communications systems and leading enterprise-wide projects. In that organization, he provided advisory support to corporate and divisional management for technology and development matters. Ted is a Certified Turnaround Professional and a member of the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and is an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In his role with the Internet Engineering Task Force, Ted has contributed in various roles to the formulation of global technology standards, including being primary author of RFC-3098, “How to Advertise Responsibly Using Internet E-Mail and Newsgroups”, which articulates a standard for ethical online distribution-based advertising. Ted was a founding Trustee, Secretary and Chief Financial Officer of the SpamCon Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving e-mail as a viable communications medium.
