As vice chairman of O’Neill and Associates, John Cahill oversees O’Neill and Associates’ federal relations practice. He specializes in national and federal issues related to transportation, health care, education, homeland security, and finance. Drawing upon over twenty-five years of experience, Mr. Cahill has advised clients such the Massachusetts Port Authority, Wheaton College, Tufts Health Plan, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Cookson America, the city of Attleboro, and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation. The Boston Herald lists Mr. Cahill among Boston’s ten most powerful people (“Hub’s Power 10,” August 10, 2003). Advised the administration of Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney on federal transit legislation from 2003 through 2005. Mr. Cahill continues to focus on federal appropriations, healthcare, transportation, and homeland security. Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Mr. Cahill served as director of external affairs for MassPort, which operates Logan International Airport, the Port of Boston, Hanscom Field, and other economic development interests. In this position, Mr. Cahill was responsible for all federal, state and local activities of MassPort, including legislative and policy matters related to its operation and finance, working closely with the aviation, finance, media and legal departments. Additionally, Mr. Cahill participated in the Massachusetts Port Authority effort to gain federal approval of its $143 million reimbursement from the Transportation Security Administration based upon its first in the nation baggage security system. Mr. Cahill began his career in Washington, working in the Office of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives followed by service as a Special Assistant for Economic Development in the Massachusetts Office of Federal State Relations. Mr. Cahill is a graduate of the University of South Florida. He is also an alumnus of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, where he concentrated in international law, international economics, and Middle Eastern studies. Mr. Cahill is a member of the Army/Navy Club in Washington, D.C. and the Johns Hopkins University Club in Baltimore. Mr. Cahill serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of the Special Olympics of Massachusetts.
