Building on more than fifteen years of policy, political and private-sector experience, Arshi Siddiqui helps clients navigate complex legislative and regulatory challenges on a wide range of issues. Ms. Siddiqui came to Akin Gump after serving as senior policy advisor and counsel to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Ms. Siddiqui joined Speaker Pelosi’s leadership staff in 2003 and provided strategic and substantive counsel to members on various legislative priorities, including tax legislation and health insurance reform, as well bipartisan efforts related to the financial crisis, economic recovery, innovation, trade and energy legislation. In that capacity, Ms. Siddiqui worked closely with the relevant committees, House and Senate leadership, the administration and members of Congress to develop policy, formulate strategy and build support towards the enactment of key pieces of legislation. Prior to her tenure in the Speaker’s office, Ms. Siddiqui represented corporate clients before Congress and the executive branch. She began her career on Capitol Hill, first as a policy aide to Rep. Eva Clayton (D-NC), and subsequently as Ways and Means counsel to Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA). She has also worked on a number of congressional and presidential campaigns, in addition to coordinating recount efforts in a number of contested races. J.D., Georgetown University Law Center, 1997
