Bill Klinefelter is a Senior Advisor to the Government Relations and Public Policy and the International Trade and Customs practice groups. Drawing on more than twenty years of experience helping organizations achieve major policy initiatives, Mr. Klinefelter helps clients develop strong advocacy strategies and forge strong working relationships to create change. Mr. Klinefelter advocates on behalf of his clients before the U.S. Congress and before federal agencies including the Commerce Department, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Environmental Protection Agency, and the International Trade Commission. Prior to joining Kelley Drye, Mr. Klinefelter worked for 20 years at the United Steelworkers (USW), most recently as the Legislative and Political Director and Assistant to the President. There, he regularly worked with many members of Congress to promote the legislative agenda of the USW. He also worked to ensure the continued support for the Stand Up for Steel campaign, a coalition of major U.S. steel companies and unions whose mission is to ensure fairness in international trade laws and promote the well-being of steelworkers. Mr. Klinefelter served as the coalition's co-chair and led its legislative team. He has also served as part of the legislative team for the AFL-CIO, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the National Wildlife Federation.
