@kevin I am thinking of any potential financial ties...just interesting to me to see that many on the bench are pro-business..so curious...

@coldwind try ownership relationships instead in that case? parent-child is for when there is a clear single parent, though that is inadequate at times (eg, Joint Commitees of the Senate and House in Congress)

@coldwind can you find the books on google books? if so, perhaps you can link to the book and include page numbers in the source detail.

@rjgwood not that I know of. Sounds like a worthwhile project!

@kevin
Will you make a title for the list? I have two deficit committee members so far that were staffers at one time.

@kevin
Is there any benefit in starting a list of ex-congressional staffers who are now elected officials?

Charles M Brain, a Democratic lobbyist who runs his own firm, Capitol Hill Strategies, said he gives to people with whom he has cultivated personal relationships over the years when he was a staffer and legislative liaison in the Clinton White House. "It's a way of still trying to advance what you believe in and help your friends," he said.

Great work on your post regarding Massey and Blankenship.
When we were doing the Chamber project I noticed some of the controversy and questionable business practices surrounding him.
I discovered that the Chamber decided to launch one of their "anti-lawsuit, pro-business" newspapers in West Virginia largely, in my estimation, due to Blankenship's contentious relationship with the courts there.

Try as I might I could not find much of anything else on this paper in our databases.
I did add an LS profile at that time.

@sundin not a dumb question! they are actually two different companies. harvard management company handles the endowment, and the corporation is the university's equivalent of a board of trustees.
