In her current role, Finucane serves as the senior executive responsible for defining, establishing and communicating Bank of America’s public strategy with constituent groups around the world, including current and prospective customers and clients; elected officials and policymakers; local communities and related advocacy and policy groups; more than 282,000 employees; and shareholders.
Finucane oversees public policy, government affairs, consumer policy and corporate social responsibility, leading the company’s engagement and position on global and domestic policies, issues, current and proposed legislation and other public affairs affecting Bank of America, the financial services industry and the impact of those on the broader U.S. and global economies. In 2009, Finucane’s efforts included the introduction of a newly focused consumer policy and corporate social responsibility effort; a leadership position in the resolution of the company’s participation in the Troubled Asset Recovery Program (TARP); U.S. Congressional hearings and inquiries into the financial services industry; and continued oversight of the largest community development and investment goal ever established by a U.S. financial institution ($1.5 trillion over ten years).
Finucane also oversees the company’s 10-year, $2 billion philanthropic giving goal through the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, one of the largest corporate philanthropic organizations in the world; the company’s 10-year, $20 billion environmental initiative to address global climate change, as founder and chair of Bank of America’s Environmental Council; arts and culture investment and programs; and global volunteerism.
In addition, Finucane leads the company’s nearly $2 billion research, marketing, advertising and communications organization, positioning Bank of America and its lines of business around the world.
Finucane joined Bank of America predecessor FleetBoston Financial in 1995. While at Fleet, she was a member of Fleet’s executive management committee, chairperson of FleetBoston Financial Charitable Foundation and a board member of Fleet Credit Card Services.
Finucane serves on the boards of Carnegie Hall, Special Olympics, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, Partners Healthcare, The American Ireland Fund and the International Center of Journalists. « less
