Since forming WMG in 1998, he has steadily built the company into a powerhouse in the sports and media industries by cultivating category-leading businesses spanning management, marketing and content.
WMG Management is the number-one sports talent agency in basketball, baseball, soccer and action sports, representing hundreds of clients throughout the world. WMG Marketing, recognized as the foremost naming rights expert, also handles consulting, endorsement and sponsorship programs for the world’s most prominent sports and entertainment properties and consumer brands. WMG Marketing was recently appointed to represent the naming rights process for the new home of the Jets and the Giants, the New Meadowlands Stadium.

WMG Content, which creates and distributes digital, televised, and live programming for consumers, includes Studio411, the largest and most acclaimed action sports studio, and WMG Events, which produces and promotes large-scale live events. WMG is also the holding company for the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League (AFL).

Wasserman is extremely active in the AFL. He was elected chairman of the league, serves on the executive committee and chairs both the negotiating and the expansion committees. In 2002, he negotiated the league’s groundbreaking national television partnership with NBC and collective bargaining agreement with its players. Those landmark deals paved the way for the AFL to join the top tier of American sports properties.

Wasserman, who earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA, is dedicated to philanthropy. He serves as president and chief executive officer of the Wasserman Foundation, his family’s private foundation, and he is also a board member of New York University, the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library Foundation, the Jules Stein Eye Institute, the Whitney Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

He has been widely acknowledged by peers and the industry for his accomplishments, and in December 2006 Wasserman became the youngest executive to be acknowledged on Sports Business Journal’s annual “Most Influential” list. « less
