Serving most recently as counsel at a health policy firm, Ms. Su also used her years of experience as a health care attorney while serving as legislative counsel to Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO), where she was the principal advisor for his health care-related activities on the Senate Finance Committee. In this role, Ms. Su developed numerous policy proposals that were subsequently incorporated into laws like the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 and the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Su also worked as an associate at law firms in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., where she gained experience with federal and state health care regulation and litigation, including assisting with a Third Circuit Court of Appeals case regarding Medicare reimbursement and providing formal legal opinions on questions related to Stark, HIPAA and Anti-Kickback laws. Ms. Su also developed client strategies on obtaining appropriate Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, coding and coverage and assisted in representing clients in proceedings before agency bodies, such as the Provider Reimbursement Review Board.
Ms. Su’s first experience on Capitol Hill was during law school, when she served as a law clerk to Ranking Member Henry Waxman (D-CA) on the House Government Reform Committee.
An active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Ms. Su edited the Annual and Quarterly Review for the Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group from 2004-2006. « less
