American macroeconomist, professor of Economics at Harvard University, known in academia for his work on New Keynesian economics. Various academic metrics ranked him highly as a globally influential, frequently cited. He also authored several best-selling textbooks, some translated in 20 languages. Outside of academia he writes a popular blog is a frequent columnist in The New York Times' Sunday Business section. Mankiw is a conservative and has been an economic adviser to several Republican politicians including President George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. In October 2019, he announced that he was no longer a Republican because of his criticism of President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
