Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Mr. Coco was affiliated with another leading U.S. law firm and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Intergovernmental and Corporate Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education. In this capacity, Mr. Coco represented the department as the primary liaison to elected officials, corporations and the general business community. He worked with foundations and non-profit organizations, and he served as a senior advisor to the Secretary of Education.
From 1977-99, Mr. Coco served in various positions with the U.S. House of Representatives, including Special Assistant to Democratic Caucus Chairman Gillis Long; Staff Director of the House Subcommittee on the Legislative Process; Executive Floor Assistant in the Majority Whip organization; and Chief of Staff to Congressman Butler Derrick and Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
In 1977, Mr. Coco earned a Master of Education from the University of New Orleans. He earned an undergraduate degree from Centenary College in 1968. « less
