Dr. Rice, 69*, has served as president and CEO of Agensys, Inc., a privately held biotechnology subsidiary of Astellas Pharma, Inc. located in Santa Monica, California, since December 1996. Dr. Rice also served as a director of Agensys from December 1996, and as chairman from February 2002 until December 2007 when Agensys was acquired by Astellas Pharma. Prior to joining Agensys, Dr. Rice held positions as president and COO of Teledyne, Inc., and as Secretary of the Air Force, U.S. Department of Defense. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and an M.S. in Industrial Management and a Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honorary society and was a Ford Foundation Doctoral Fellow. Dr. Rice is also a director of Chevron Corporation, GKN Aerospace Transparancies, and Vulcan Materials Company. He is a member of the RAND Corporation Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Pardee RAND Graduate School, and member of the Equipment Advisory Committee for the PGA Tour. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. « less
