The climate change deniers defending Exxon

A network of nonprofit organizations has activated around the attorneys' general investigation, framing the inquiry as a violation of ExxonMobil’s protected speech and portraying the law enforcement officials involved as colluding with environmentalists. Many in this network also have personnel and funding ties to the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), a rightwing think tank that one attorney general subpoenaed as part of the broader ExxonMobil investigation.
